Background

The Diaz Campos family grows coffee in the highlands of the Lonya Grande district. where there is lush forestry and clean, pure, natural water sources for coffee processing. Jorge is the third son of his family, and he worked for Norcafe Cooperative in Cajamarca in 2017 and 2018. Norcafe Cooperative was established in 2015 by a group of young university students who are children of small producers with the same objective: to work together to promote continuous improvement of quality and opportunities .At present, Jorge uses the knowledge he gained from Norcafe to improve quality on his farm. Jorge believes that beekeeping helps with pollination of his coffee plants and positively affects the flavour of his coffees. He also practices what he calls “selective harvesting” and “controlled fermentation” to carefully process his coffees.

Coffees from Peru have excited us since the start of our shop because we find that quality from Peru has been rising by leaps and bounds year on year. They have so much potential! This year, we decided to purchase 2 coffees from the same district of Lonya Grande, but processed differently. What we love about them both is their sweetness and balance. Jorge’s coffee has a ripe acidity with a great, sticky mouthfeel and a long, sweet finish. It is one of those solid, everyday coffees that you can enjoy at any time of day.
