Background
Robinson Lopez’s delicious honey processed Caturra is 1 of 3 coffees that we purchased on our trip to Colombia last year. We remember how sweet and vibrant its acidity was on the cupping table, and we are so happy to report that all of those qualities held up on its long trip to us here in Singapore. Robinson owns a farm that’s 4 hectors big, and he runs the farm together with his wife, who is his greatest partner. Robinson’s aspirations go beyond coffee. He hopes to diversify hos crops, make his home sustainable and buy a car one day.
The Caturra variety was introduced to Colombia in 1952, but it has its origins in Brazil and it is a natural mutation of the Bourbon coffee plant. It has a distinctively shorter plant physique, which makes it easier to cultivate and manage. It is also well-known for its acidity and body.
