Rwanda - Mahembe

Background

Mahembe Coffee was established by Justin in 2010, and it started with constructing a wet mill on Justin’s father’s coffee plantation. Since then, the business has grown to include 2 processing stations and 3 farms. Today, Justin and his son, Willy, manage the business together. Mahembe is now a brand that is synonymous with quality coffee from Rwanda.

When we first cupped this coffee from Greg, our coffee importer, we really enjoyed its sweetness and flavour complexity. It has a deep flavour of dried currants, ripe berries, and a juicy acidity like orange zest. The finish is long and aromatic. We think it’s brilliant as a punchy and sweet filter coffee or as a juicy and ripe espresso.
