Finca V & G was founded in 2008 by industrial engineer Alan Vargas and agronomist Tomas Gutierrez, with a vision to create a sustainable model for coffee cultivation with a scientific approach. To that end, they implement best agricultural practices, practise soil stewardship and aim to gradually replace more traditional varieties such as Catuai and Caturra, that are susceptible to leaf rust, to more rust-resistant, high-yielding, and equally quality-focused strains like this hybrid H1 (also known as Centroamericano). This hybrid comes from a cross between rust-resistant [T5296] (/varieties/t5296) and the Ethiopian landrace variety Rume Sudan.
This is a sweetness driven, flavour intense coffee, and really showcases what hybrid varieties have to offer in quality.
