This is an incredibly special coffee to us. We have bought coffees from our friend and producer, Dandy Dharmawan, over the last 3 years. 2 years ago, we had the privilege of meeting Dandy in person and hosting his first pizza party in Singapore when he came with his family to visit coffee roasters and share about his experiences at the farm at our Singapore Roasters Forum. Sadly, Dandy passed away very suddenly last year, just as we were about to organise a visit to his farm. This was one of Dandy’s last harvests at Ijen Lestari before his wife and father-in-law took over the operations at Ijen. Ijen is a COE-winning producer, and the Dharmawan family have always been chasing after quality - in coffee processing, and growing new varietals. This CM Natural processing is one of Ijen’s signatures. It is every bit as sweet and tropical as we remember it to be. We hope to continuously support Dandy’s wife, Sofie, as she finds her own path forward with Ijen.
Although we sourced and roasted this especially for milk espresso drinkers, this coffee can also be enjoyed black if you prefer a richer mouthfeel and more sugar-browning flavours, compared to the range of coffees we prefer to showcase solely as black coffees, be it in a filter or espresso format.
