This is our third year purchasing coffee from Rwanda and working with Greg, who owns Latanier and works closely with Rwandan coffee partners to bring their coffees to Singapore. This year, this washed Red Bourbon from Gitesi stood out on the cupping table for its classic flavour profile. We always enjoy the ripe acidity, floral finish and juicy mouthfeel of Rwandan coffees. Gitesi is a fantastic example of what a classic washed Rwandan coffee can taste like.
Gitesi washing station is owned by Alexis Gahizi and his son, Aime, now runs it. The company has become a key supporter of its community, investing in providing financing training and growing alternative crops to supplement the income of Alexis’ and Aime’s community. Gitesi is working on improving its infrastructure and processing to improve consistency.
