This year, we decided to purchase almost all of our Ethiopian coffees from one producer: Tamiru Tadesse. We love what he is doing for Ethiopian coffee and smallholder farmers in his country, and we love the quality that comes from his washing stations. This is also the first time we enjoyed the privilege of having our coffee airfreighted to Singapore, rather than endure a months-long travel on sea, exposed to the elements. From what we’ve experienced on the cupping table, we suspect that there is a huge jump in the intensity and focus of flavours coming through from these coffees that have their freshness retained much better.
This washed coffee from Bona Gute is classic in profile. It’s aromatic and vibrant, all the things that we always love in a washed Ethiopian coffee during this time of the year.
