Geisha varietals are not all created equal. There are a tonne of factors that go into determining the final flavour outcome of the coffee: microclimate, soil conditions, farming practices, picking practices, processing, maturity of coffee plants, just to name a few. We purchased this coffee, amongst our other selections of geishas from Panama (geisha paradise, for many), because we enjoy learning, tasting and appreciating the influence of different growing conditions on the same varietal. We’re happy to report that Alberto’s coffee retains the strong floral characteristics of the varietal, while his processing brings out a deep sweetness and tropicality in the cup. This is a really value-for-money coffee. It’s sweet, just the right amount of intense, and layered with a good amount of florals and fruit throughout.
Alberto’s coffee was sourced by Nordic Approach in partnership with Cuatro Vientos, a family-owned business that offers microlots and regional blends. Most of the coffees here are washed, and naturals, such as this one, are produced only upon request.
